Back to the Basics with the household
The constraints issued from the Covid pandemic lead us to rethink the way we live. The home, where we spend more and more time, is once again becoming the corner stone of our lives. Focus on recent changes in behaviour and the new way of looking at our homes.
Home sweet home
Until now, our days were spent mainly at the office for work, in restaurants for meals, outside for activities, on trips for vacations (...) and of course in transport for the journeys between these different places. The house, or the apartment, was the refuge that allowed to recharge, ideal to decompress, rest and reload the batteries. Since the advent of Covid, we are present much more often at home. The quality of one's home has, in fact, taken on a special importance. And some defects (limited surface, absence of outside, lack of comfort...), then acceptable, became prohibitive. A desire to improve our habitat was felt, when it was not more categorically a real need for change and elsewhere.
...And home comes alive
Each of us has had to ask ourselves the very question of the definition of home. If comfort and aesthetics are still major concerns, the situation has changed. The function of the home has become multiple: we can refer to the famous "living machine" evoked by Le Corbusier in the 1920s with the sense of provocation that we know. The home is now the place from which one works, the place where one eats, where one receives family and friends, where one plays sports, where one takes care of oneself and one's health, but also the place of entertainment, leisure and relaxation... As a result, its design must be customized according to particular needs to promote comfort, well-being and intimacy, with tailor-made features.
A layout to rethink
The trend is clearly towards optimizing spaces and separating them according to their use, even if it means that they are in different buildings. We return to a more traditional organization of housing in hermetic and privatized cocoons, with their specific utility. An example: No one wants to be disturbed during a video conference by their children playing and making noise. A redesigned interior will allow your little ones to enjoy their own playroom at the other end of the house, while you can conduct your summit meeting in a soundproof office with the latest technology.

Of course, it is possible to install elements to modulate these separations when the need arises, with sliding doors for example. Depending on the space you have, rooms can also be dedicated to art, various collections, sports and exercise, meditation and relaxation... Clearly, open spaces are no longer in fashion. In apartments that don't have much space to spare... you have to be even smarter!
Finally, and since we have to mention the sanitary aspect, the house must obviously remain a healthy refuge and offer the possibility to possible contaminated people to shelter themselves from the rest of the household, in independent buildings or spaces.
about the outside ?
More than ever popular these last months, the exteriors are not left out. They have even become indispensable for a large part of the population. Reinvested and rediscovered, they allow to get closer to nature from home, but also to protect oneself or to feel protected from others in case of a pandemic outbreak: Design of spaces dedicated to physical activity or relaxation, landscaping, creation and maintenance of a vegetable garden, setting up an outdoor kitchen, organization of festive events with family and friends... The possibilities are numerous!
As you can see, the trend is to reshape spaces. It is possible to think about a virtual reorganization (home staging) before taking action. Do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your project!
