The Golden islands

At the southernmost tip of Provence is the archipelago of the Hyères islands, composed of Porquerolles, Port-Cros, and Le Levant.

These islands offer exceptionally varied landscapes and crystal clear water that will allow you to admire the seabed.

Porquerolles / Iles d'Or

The island of Porquerolles is the largest of the three islands, 7km long and 2.5km wide. You can walk or cycle along 54km of trails, reaching breathtaking landscapes or majestic coves. The island abounds with beautiful beaches, vineyards, and an incredibly rich botanical conservatory, it becomes a site classified and protected by the Port-Cros National Park. You will enjoy the rich fauna and flora, wild plants, multiple varieties of fruit trees, but also an exceptional flowering during the flowering of the maquis.

Port Cros

Close to Porquerolles is the island of Port-Cros renowned as the first national park on land and at sea in Europe. It is the most mountainous island, and the wildest of its two sisters. It is full of an incredible fauna, you can meet herring gulls, ash shearwaters, but also reptiles or insects. You can also sail to discover the seabed dotted with posidonia, or stay on solid ground and visit one of the many forts built by Francis the 1st and stay at the Manor.

Ile du Levant

Further east you will come across the island of Levant. If its territory is 80% occupied by the Mediterranean Test Centre, the rest of the island will offer you considerable vegetation, and arbutus trees renowned for being the most beautiful in Mediterranean Europe. Also famous for the naturist village of Heliopolis founded by the Durville brothers in 1931, the natural environment is preserved, combining nature and sport thanks to its marked trails and seabed.
